The proceedings of the Fifth International Symposium on [title], held in College Station, Texas in March 1993, comprise 29 plenary lectures and invited presentations, as well as abstracts of 47 posters. The symposium involved a large component of industrial applications of oxidation/oxygenation reactions, particularly with dioxygen and hydrogen peroxide as starting materials. Papers also reflect the considerable advances that have occurred in the oxygenation of alkanes with both heme and non-heme complexes as catalysts. Important advances have been made with non-heme iron and copper complexes to promote dehydrogenation/oxygenation reactions. Insights into the nature of such processes have developed from the study of oxidase, peroxidase, monooxygenase, and dioxygenase enzymes and their models. Annotation c.
