The first novel in the original, six-book Iron Druid Chronicles—introducing a cool, new, funny urban fantasy hero

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old—when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer.

Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries. Now the determined deity has tracked him down, and Atticus will need all his power—plus the help of a seductive goddess of death, his vampire and werewolf team of attorneys, a sexy bartender possessed by a Hindu witch, and some good old-fashioned luck of the Irish—to kick some Celtic arse and deliver himself from evil.

About the Author

Kevin Hearne is a native of Arizona and really appreciates whoever invented air-conditioning. He graduated from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff and now teaches high school English. When he’s not grading essays or writing novels, he tends to his basil plants and paints landscapes with his daughter. He has been known to obsess over fonts, frolic unreservedly with dogs, and stop whatever he’s doing in the rare event of rain to commune with the precipitation. He enjoys hiking, the guilty pleasure of comic books, and living with his wife and daughter in a wee, snug cottage.

I must admit that when I was searching for a new series to read and I stumbled upon this book I was a little hesitant. I haven't seen and/or read many books within this genre that were written by a man and were truly engaging. I am so glad to have taken a chance on this author because all three Iron Druid books up to this point have been absolutely amazing. I was so enthralled with the characters, setting, everything that I could not put the books down. Plus the fact that there is an actual dog in the book that acts like a dog (no pampered pooches whose feet never touch the ground here) was very nice to see. I have always admired the Irish Wolfhound and well pretty much any canine that dealt with wolves and or looked wolfish (like my beloved Keeshonden).

If you are thinking about getting this book, do so, you won't be sorry!

This book was absolutely amazing! I could not put the book down. The characters are great with fast and witty dialogue, with quirky modern references. This is a most read for anyone who likes urban fantasy or just a good read!

The last of the Druids is in our modern world fighting evil when he has to and making herbal decoctions at his bookstore when he isn't. So entertaining and well written, once you read this you will have to get the rest of the books in the series.
