About the Author

Robert D. Kaplan is a correspondent for The Atlantic Monthly and the bestselling author of seven previous books on travel and foreign affairs, translated into many languages, including Balkan Ghosts, The Arabists, The Ends of the Earth, and The Coming Anarchy. One of a few discussions in human terms of our uncertain future that does not suppose the reader is a fool or the outcome is certain. Worth reading, in a world where much is read but little thinking accompanies the act.
