Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

The New York Times bestselling series.

When Anita Blake meets with prospective client Tony Bennington, who is desperate to have her reanimate his recently deceased wife, she is full of sympathy for his loss. Anita knows something about love, and she knows everything there is to know about loss. But what she also knows, though Tony Bennington seems unwilling to be convinced, is that the thing she can do as a necromancer isn't the miracle he thinks he needs. The creature that Anita could coerce to step out of the late Mrs. Bennington's grave would not be the lovely Mrs. Bennington. Not really. And not for long.

Synopsis:

Anita Blake meets with prospective client Tony Bennington and learns that he is willing to pay top dollar to have his recently deceased wife reanimated. But Anita knows that what would step out of the late Mrs. Bennington's grave would not be her former self, but a zombie.

I picked up a copy of this book because it was next in line for the Anita Blake series. I was surprised at its brevity, but really pleased with it. It's a great story that delves into Anita Blake's necromancy and well, it's about flirting and all the different directions it can take. What's really terrific are the essay and comics at the end. Hamilton warns of a spoiler alert in her introduction and I behaved and waited until I finished reading the story before reading the background material at the end. But for would be writers and lovers of fiction, when you are dying (pun intended) to ask an author about his/her method for coming up with plot lines and/or development of a story, look no further than Hamilton's Flirt. Not only is your answer packed into a nifty little story, but the author's thinking and the events that occurred to bring this story to fruition are laid out there for you. It's a great story with a creative writing lesson included with the cost of the book.
