John Sandford does a great job of creating the character of Virgil Flowers, the laid back Cop with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. I can often skim through a book to just read the juicy parts - but not with John Sandford. Even the descriptions need to be read to get a real feel for the story.
