Starting with the construction of a half-hull ship model, the book advances to the building of a whole-hull model and replicas of 12 different American sailing vessels, including a whaling schooner, Chesapeake Bay bugeye, sloop of war, privateer, and International "M" class yacht. Also included are chapters on rigging, gear and furniture, and tools and materials.
