Publisher Comments:

Polly Duncan is off to Paris, temporarily leaving Jim Qwilleran without his lady companion. Good thing there's lots to keep Jim busy. Like a mysterious death from a bee sting that leaves everyone but Koko the Siamese in a state of confusion. If only the kitty with sixty whiskers would stop pussyfooting around and let Jim in on the deadly secret

Synopsis:

In the 29th installment of Braun's beloved, bestselling Cat Who . . . series., all of Moose County, 400 miles north of everywhere, is in an uproar following vast inheritances from wealthy old families. Only "Cool Koko" knows what's happening . . . and he's not telling. Jim Qwilleran thinks it's because he has more whiskers than ordinary cats, but who's counting?

I have read all of Lilian Jackson Braun's The Cat Who books, and am a big fan. LJB was born in 1913, and would be 96 years old now. The Cat Who Had 60 Whiskers is not up to her usual quality. It is disjointed, and does not solve the mysteries of arson, murder or where is Derek. It leaves us dangling, wondering where the rest of the chapters are. The book is short, and it has blank pages, "cutened" by paw prints and a cat face sketch with lots of whiskers. The photo of LJB has not changed in over 20 years. Many people are wondering whether she is still alive, and whether the books are now written by someone else. The Cat Who Had 60 Whiskers is disappointing, and we wonder whether it is LJB's swan song.
