I've been reading the Best American Short Stories collection every year for the past three years, and this collection has a fantastic variety of strong writers. Jennifer Egan has a keen eye for selecting stories that are successful and very unique from one another. I've always been a fan of Egan's work, so it was great to read about how what writing interests and entertains her. Nicole Cullen's "Long Tom Lookout" was my favorite story by far. What amazing writing! If you want to discover new, engaging fiction writers, this is a great place to start.
