Publisher Comments:

In a snug New England fishing village, Charlie St. Cloud tends the lawns and monuments of an ancient cemetery where his younger brother, Sam, is buried. After surviving the car accident that claimed his brother's life, Charlie is graced with an extraordinary gift: He can see, talk to, and even play catch with Sam's spirit. Into this magical world comes Tess Carroll, a captivating woman training for a solo sailing trip around the globe. Fate steers her boat into a treacherous storm that propels her into Charlie's life. Their beautiful and uncommon connection leads to a race against time and a choice between death and life, between the past and the future, between holding on and letting go — and the discovery that miracles can happen if we simply open our hearts.

"The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud" is one of the most magical love stories I've ever read. In his wonderfully inventive way, Ben Sherwood has written a shining affirmation of life.-- Sue Monk Kidd.

"I believe in miracles" is how Charlie St. Cloud begins. Miracle is definitely the word to describe this book. In this book Charlie is a teenager with a lot going for him, but in one unfortunate event of his brother's death, his life takes a turn for the worst. After having a hard time moving on, he meets what he pictures the girl of his dreams who helps him ease out of his state of shock and shows what else the world has to offer. The story doesn't happily end there, Charlie faces more tragedies. Without spoiling this book, I can definitely say that the moral of this book is no matter the circumstances, don't give up, miracles are around just around the corner. I was introduced to Charlie St. Cloud be the movie and to tell the truth, I didn't have too high of expectations for the book. But even within the first few pages, I was wide eyed and amazed. Charlie St. Cloud is great and I would recommend it to anyone who is willing to shed a few tears and enjoys a book full of hope.
