Synopses & Reviews

Review:

"Only 'Redeeming the Wizard' by Lyon (aka Jennifer Apodaca) stands out in this paranormal romance anthology. Anchor author McCarthy (Hard and Fast) opens with 'The Howling,' featuring a young woman who dreams about a bride devoured by werewolves. Deceit, betrayal, and hot sex aren't enough to overcome the lack of world-building and humor. In 'Smoke on the Water,' D'Arc (Inferno) partners a government agent with a woman immune to a zombifying disease and sends them to track down and stop its crazed creator. Whatever heat they generate is mitigated by the decided unsexiness of the shambling undead. Lyon (Soul Magic) rescues the anthology with complex characterization and vivid descriptive imagery. The compelling romance between a woman trying to save her kidnapped grandmother and the reclusive wizard she blames for her parents' death is worth the price of admission all by itself. (Sept.)" I enjoyed The Beast Within.

Redeeming the Wizard by Jennifer Lyon is my favorite of the three stories. I feel in love with Mira and Gage. I love their relationship. I even liked the bad guy and hope he gets his own story.

The Howling by Erin McCarthy left me wondering if I had missed an earlier book about Liv and Sebastian. I felt that most of their romance had already taken place. I would have enjoyed seeing them fall in love. But still a good story.

I liked Smoke on the Water as well. Which surprised me because I don't like zombies. I even found myself routing for one of them just a little bit!) The relationship between John and Donna could have come out of real life. I would read more zombies books by Bianca D'Arc
