Publisher Comments:

Blue Jacket (ca. 1743–ca. 1808), or Waweyapiersenwaw, was the galvanizing force behind an intertribal confederacy of unparalleled scope that fought a long and bloody war against white encroachments into the Shawnees’ homeland in the Ohio River Valley. Blue Jacket was an astute strategist and diplomat who, though courted by American and British leaders, remained a staunch defender of the Shawnees’ independence and territory. In this arresting and controversial account, John Sugden depicts the most influential Native American leader of his time.

My name it Anthony Bluejacket....I am a direct decendent of Blue Jacket... He is my great great great granfather.... This book is the most acurate and non-controversial publication that anyone has ever attempted of the real stroy of BlueJacket.... Thank you John Sudgen for taking the time to write it right. I can speak for my entire family when I say that the last 20 years of speculations of other authors on this subject have been frustrating to say the least. I hope that someday someone will write on each generation of Bluejacket, as each has its on personal triumphs and tribulations from Ohio to the BIA all the way down to me....
