Publisher Comments:

In this sequel to the phenomenal New York Times bestseller The Fires of Heaven, we plunge again into Robert Jordan's extraordinarily rich, totally unforgettable world:

On the slopes of Shayol Ghul, the Myrddraal swords are forged, and the sky is not the sky of this world;

In Salidar the White Tower in exile prepares an embassy to Caemlyn, where Rand Al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn, holds the throne--and where an unexpected visitor may change the world....

In Emond's Field, Perrin Goldeneyes, Lord of the Two Rivers, feels the pull of ta'veren to ta'veren and prepares to march....

Morgase of Caemlyn finds a most unexpected, and quite unwelcome, ally....And south lies Illian, where Sammael holds sway....

About the Author

Robert Jordan was born in 1948 in Charleston, South Carolina. He taught himself to read when he was four with the incidental aid of a twelve-years-older brother, and was tackling Mark Twain and Jules Verne by five. He is a graduate of The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, with a degree in physics. He served two tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Army; among his decorations are the Distinguished Flying Cross with bronze oak leaf cluster, the Bronze Star with "V" and bronze oak leaf cluster, and two Vietnamese Gallantry Crosses with palm. A history buff, he has also written dance and theater criticism and enjoyed the outdoor sports of hunting, fishing, and sailing, and the indoor sports of poker, chess, pool, and pipe collecting.
Robert Jordan began writing in 1977 and went on to write The Wheel of Time®, one of the most important and best selling series in the history of fantasy publishing with over 14 million copies sold in North America, and countless more sold abroad.
Robert Jordan died on September 16, 2007, after a courageous battle with the rare blood disease amyloidosis.

So many people I've talked to about this series have complained about how slow and repetitive it is; that more & more pages go by while less & less time elapses. But they must all forget that all of the recapping was necessary. When these books were first coming out there was huge gaps of time between new releases, usually a year or more. With so much going on and the depth of detail Robert Jordan puts into his work, much would be lost, due to forgetfulness on the reader's behalf, that the story would suffer. All though it's understandable how it could get annoying if you're reading the series back to back. That said, let's get to the book.

Queen Morgase Trakand is now a common p.o.v. character, as a "guest" of the Children of the Light. Perrin is back after being absent all of the last book. Rand considers all of the other men who must be able to channel. Someone gets kidnapped by the Aes Sedai. The Wise Ones break custom, once again.

Highly recommended.

The Wheel Of Time series is probably the best series of books i have ever read. I am a typical person who has always hated reading. Probably the only series i have read before this was the Harry Potter series. I fell in love with Robert Jordans writing from the first book to the last and up till his death i was waiting for the 12 book. This past summer i read 17 books each at least 800 pages each. (Sword of truth, Lord of the rings and wheel of time) Robert Jordans unique way of pulling you into another world has inspired me to read more and has interested me greatly in fantasy. Lord of Chaos is also my favorite out of the series as it starts to show even more changes in our Dragon Reborn. It shows the Two Rivers boy transform into the ruthless Hero and Savior The Dragon Reborn.
Robert Jordan is a rare author and cannot be replaced. Rest In Piece James Oliver Rigney, Jr.
