Book News Annotation:

A study that analyzes the psychosocial impact of vision loss on 80 older adults, and provides evidence that increased depression and anxiety reduced and less life satisfaction are not necessary consequences of vision loss. It reviews the literature on macular degeneration and vision loss and psychosocial factors, and presents respondents' answers to seven questions in its examination of the relative importance of control in explaining the variance in levels of depression, anxiety, and life satisfaction among the severely impaired.
