ACS Symposium #850: Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry, MS/MS and Time of Flight MS: Analysis of Emerging Contaminants

by Uri M. Almagor

ACS Symposium #850: Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry, MS/MS and Time of Flight MS: Analysis of Emerging Contaminants Cover

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

This volume explores state-of-the-art mass spectrometric techniques. It focuses on liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry and time-of-flight/mass spectrometry to determine emerging contaminants, such as pharmaceuticals, hormones, pesticides, surfactants and unknown natural products.

Book News Annotation:

The 22 studies focus on methods and approaches, rather than theory and explanation, in using the imaging technology's instruments—quadrupole ion trap, triple quadrupole, and quadrupole/time-of-flight—to identify environmental contaminants, among them pesticides, pharmaceuticals, surfactants, aromatic hydrocarbons, humic substances, plasticizers, steroids, hormones, and disinfectant byproducts. By and large, the contributors are not the hoary pioneers of the technology, but a new generation of young scientists in environmental organic analysis. Their accounts are directed to researchers and graduate students in environmental chemistry. The symposium was held at the Society's meeting in Orlando, Florida at an undisclosed date.
