About the Author

Toni Toland has been a faculty member in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University since 1981. She has also been Chair of the Department of Visual Communication, Director of the School of Art and Design, and Program Coordinator for Advertising Design. Ms. Toland developed the curriculum and taught classes on print and interactive design at Syracuse University and Westwood College Online. Her teaching expertise focuses on digital prepress and interactive design. In addition to designing and maintaining several websites, her professional experience includes creative positions with design studios, advertising agencies, and at Town and Country magazine, where her work garnered design awards from Advertising Age and the Society for Publication Designers, among others. Author of Best Practice: the Pros on Adobe Illustrator, as well as Best Practice: Pros on Adobe Photoshop (both from Delmar-Cengage Learning), Ms. Toland has served as technical editor for several other titles. Ms. Toland earned B.F.A and M.F.A. degrees in design with honors. Annesa Hartman holds a Masters in Teaching with Internet Technologies, specializing in instructional design for online technologies, as well as Web and graphic design concepts and programs. Currently, she is a Content Development Specialist for Kaplan University, where she designs and develops online courses for Kaplan educators. She also teaches online computer graphics courses for Modesto Junior College in California and the Community College of Vermont. For more than 14 years, she has been a freelance graphic designer for clients around the world. A prolific writer, Ms. Hartman is the author of Exploring Adobe Photoshop , Exploring Adobe Illustrator, Exploring Adobe Flash, and Producing Interactive Television.
