Dell Fletcher is the Roadrunner, a black major-league baseball star who seems to have it all. Hes married to his college sweetheart, Leah, and they have two children and a dream home in Los Angeles. Exhausted, his wife Leah quickly loses patience. One day after a particularly bad fight, Dell slaps Leah, who, determined to teach him a lesson, calls the police. But Angel Lopez, the cop who answers the call has different plans for the star. While en route to the police station, simmering tensions between the two men erupt into a fight and the car crashes into a telephone pole. When Angel comes to, Dell is gone.
