I just finished reading Heidi, a book I enjoyed as a child and haven't read for at least 40 years. Much to my delight, I enjoyed it just as much this time around, if not more. Heidi's way of facing the obstacles life throws in her path is fresh and free of social controversy and unrealistic expectations. And by the way, Heidi belongs to a non-traditional family, so it is still timely. Readers should know they are going to get a spiritual lesson through the course of the story, but it's the type of lesson that could benefit us all. I encourage today's adults to go back and relive the fun of reading Heidi for the first time and introducing it to today's children.
