Automation and Control Engineering #43: Classical Feedback Control: With MATLAB and Simulink , Second Edition Cover

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

This second edition textbook describes the design and implementation of high-performance feedback controllers for engineering systems. It emphasizes the frequency-domain design and methods based on Bode integrals, loop shaping, and nonlinear dynamic compensation. The authors include many problems and offer practical applications, illustrations, and plots with MATLAB simulation and design examples. This text contains homework problems accompanied by actual solutions. Examples include case studies and real-world situations.

Book News Annotation:

This second edition of a two-semester text on designing engineering control systems for industry, telecommunication, and space programs uses MATLAB throughout. No previous exposure to MATLAB and Simulink is required. This second edition includes updates of Simulink calculations and treats new topics such as nonlinear voltage-current response and active vibration isolation. The text presents practical examples of single-input/single-output and multi-input/multi-output analog and digital feedback systems. Most examples are from space systems developed by the authors at the Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena, CA. The first six chapters cover linear control systems; this section could be used for an undergraduate course. Later chapters cover nonlinear control, robustness, global stability, and complex system simulation. Over 100 pages of reference appendices are provided. The book's readership includes engineering students and new professionals. Information on the editors is not given. Annotation ©2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
