The Center of the Sunlit Skyby Karl Brunnholzl
Synopses & Reviews
Madhyamaka is a potent and universally accessible means of calming our suffering and awakening to our innate wisdom. The Center of the Sunlit Sky artfully rescues this brilliant teaching from its unwarranted reputation for intellectual opacity and reinstates it as a supremely practical toolkit for everyday living.
Book News Annotation:
There is perhaps a surfeit of literature in the West on the Madhyamaka Buddhist system in Indian and Tibet, acknowledges Brunnhölzl, a teacher and translator with the Nitartha Institute, and plenty of translations of the ninth chapter of the Bodhicaryavatara. However, almost all look at the school and the document from the perspective of Gelugpa, he says, giving many Westerners the impression that there is no other interpretation. He offers a Kagyü view, not to argue that it is better, but merely to demonstrate that there is another way of understanding the nature of reality.
