Every walk description includes complete information about the setting, special attractions, length, difficulty, amenities available, disabled access, connecting trails, and dog restrictions, a description of the trail and surroundings (including tips about flora and fauna), and a map. The book is peppered with pictures of scenes you might find along the way – from lines of poplars to ducks walking on lilypads. Natures bounty is all around us, and Sue Muller Hacking serves as your personable guide through these nearby scenic strolls.

All of the walks from the first and second editions have been completely reviewed and updated, with the addition of more than . There is expanded information about the park or location (websites, dog policy, etc.), and more and new photographs. The new edition will be designed to better highlight the best features of each setting, along with more information for birders (author is avid birder). Will include an appendix/calendar listing local organized walks for causes.
