His previous books include "Paradosis and Survival: Three Chapters in the History of Epicurean Philosophy" (Michigan, 1990) and "Four Island Utopias: Plato's Atlantis, Euhemeros of Messene's Panchaia, Iamboulos' Island of the Sun, and Francis Bacon's New Atlantis," with Andrea Lee Purvis for Focus Publishing.
Andrea L. Purvis (Ph.D. Duke University) works as Translator and Assistant Editor of the forthcoming Landmark Herodotus (Robert B. Strassler, ed.), and teaches in Duke University's Department of Classical Studies.
