Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

There is a basic human wisdom that can help solve the worlds problems. It doesnt belong to any one culture or region or religious tradition—though it can be found in many of them throughout history. Its what Chögyam Trungpa called the sacred path of the warrior. The sacred warrior conquers the world not through violence or aggression, but through gentleness, courage, and self-knowledge. The warrior discovers the basic goodness of human life and radiates that goodness out into the world for the peace and sanity of others. Thats what the Shambhala teachings are all about, and this is the book that has been presenting them to a wide and appreciative audience for more than twenty years.

Synopsis:

In this classic of twentieth-century spiritual literature, Tibetan meditation master Chogyam Trungpa offers an inspiring vision for our time based on the ideal of the sacred warrior. In ancient times, the warrior learned to master the challenges of life, both on and off the battlefield. Trungpa shows that in discovering the basic goodness of human life, the true warrior learns to radiate that goodness into the world for the peace and sanity of others. This book describes the warrior's path for contemporary men and women in search of practical wisdom that they can put to use in their everyday lives.
