Synopses & Reviews
The second semester has begun, and everyone's busy with tests, practices, and activities again. It's time to prepare for the cultural festival, and Tsubaki asks Yukino, Tsubasa, and Maho to put on a play that she wrote for the festival. It's a sci-fi story set in the future. A transfer student named Tonami has come back after 3 years, and he and Tsubaki don't exactly get along. Tonami does as well as Soichiro in the tests, and it turns out that the two of them know each other from when they were children.
About the Author
Famed manga-ka (manga artist) Masami Tsuda's Kare Kano has become one of the best-known — and most eagerly-awaited — manga series of the last decade. Kare Kano's unique blend of quirky romance and offbeat, novel plot devices are utterly disarming and have engendered a fan base whose numbers are legion.
Kare Kano — originally published in Japan as Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou — is a modern manga masterpiece. The story began appearing in Feburary of 1996 in Hakusensha's monthly LaLa magazine and was collected thereafter in tankoubon (graphic novel) form in the Hana to Yume Comics line. As of this writing (August 2002), there are 13 volumes in print in Japan, and Kare Kano continues to be one of the top-selling manga series in that country.
Hideaki Anno and GAINAX (the creators of Neon Genesis Evangelion) produced an animated version of Kare Kano which comprised 26 TV episodes and is now being released in the U.S. as His and Her Circumstances.
