Kent Russell: IMG Kent Russell's Playlist for I Am Sorry to Think I Have Raised a Timid Son

Publisher Comments:

The wandering life of a ronin is often a lonely one, and Usagi has been on that path a long time. A temporary peace, staying with the merchant Endo and his daughter Hanaka, is interrupted by the deadly League of Assassins, setting Usagi back on the road, but with the uncomfortable sensation that he is being followed. Usagi's travels next take him to a town torn apart by street gangs searching for a dead gang boss's stash of gold. While in town, Usagi meets Mayumi, who longs for a new life away from the village and convinces Usagi to take her with him. As attraction grows between them, Usagi faces a dilemma: can another join him on his path, or is the lifestyle of a ronin too dangerous for Mayumi, especially as signs point to the return of Jei, the Black Soul?

Stan Sakai's Usagi simply is one of the best comic book/graphic novel series ever written & drawn, and this volume is one of the best. Shows a darker side to the life of a ronin (wandering samurai), and the death & grief that follow. As a bonus, includes an extended tongue-in-cheek tribute to Stan on his '100th' Dark Horse volume, with guest writers & artists giving you an insight into the inner workings of the biz. Can't recommend it highly enough -- and you can start here if you haven't been introduced to this world before.
