Synopsis:

SOLO Devotions for New Believers pairs Scripture with undated devotions to encourage new Christians in their faith.

Synopsis:

Your relationship with God is a solo journey, a walk where you grow closer to him each day. Reading and understanding Scripture is an integral part of this journey.

As a new believer in Christ, you might wonder, How do I develop a daily quiet time? What do I need to be doing during these quiet times with God? How do I get started, and where do I start reading in God’s Word?

Tailored to help you learn to listen to what God wants to say to you through his Word, these sixty devotionals take you through key Scripture passages featuring the The Message. Using the ancient practice of lectio divina, or “divine reading,” SOLO teaches you how to Read, Think, Pray, and Live God’s Word.

During these one-on-one times with God, you will see how He is shaping you into the person He designed you to be.

Synopsis:

New believers are excited to engage with God and know Him better. They also are in need of both encouragement and instruction. SOLO Devotions for New Believers has sixty carefully chosen passages from the Old and New Testaments to encourage and instruct readers in their newfound faith.

Through the practice of lectio divina (“divine reading”), believers will learn how to interact with, meditate on, and pray through Scripture. And the contemporary American English in which The Message is written makes even the most complex concepts easy to understand.

Features include:

• Undated readings that let you start any time of the year

• Short devotions that take only fifteen minutes

• Scripture references for full passages

About the Author

EUGENE H. PETERSON is a writer, poet, and retired pastor. He has authored more than thirty-four books (not including The Message). He is Professor Emeritus of Spiritual Theology at Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia. Eugene also founded Christ Our King Presbyterian Church in Bel Air, Maryland, where he ministered for twenty-nine years. After teaching at a seminary, he created The Message, a vibrant Bible paraphrase that connects with today's readers like no other.

It took Peterson ten years to complete. He worked not from any English text but from the original Hebrew and Greek texts to guarantee authenticity. At the same time, his ear was always tuned to the cadence and energy of the English spoken every day on the streets. He lives with his wife, Jan, in Montana.
