Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

"Exceptional . . . intense and extraordinarily powerful . . . this succinct narrative . . . exercises a sort of fascination over the reader . . . How happy I am if I have convinced you to read it!"—Figaro Magazine

In A Man's Place, Annie Ernaux reveals the vision of her father through her own eyes. Its beauty is like that of certain very old objects we keep and cannot imagine having to live without. This is writing where a deep respect for the realities of life yields a whole new universe of storytelling.
