Illustrated by the author himself, this August Strindberg anthology is an invitation to discover the enormous artistic talent of one of the most important figures of Nordic literature. Strindberg is known primarily for his dramas and fiction writing, but he was also a poet, a painter, and a photographer; selections of his little-known artwork and his writings from various genres appear in this volume. Readers find out how Strindbergs revolutionary work influenced Abstract Expressionism, Surrealism, and countless artists, including Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, and other members of the New York School.
