Synopses & ReviewsPublisher Comments:Since The Paris Review's inaugural issue in 1953, its "writers at work" interview series has proven one of its most successful features. For example, the popular theater issue (#142), includes dialogues with David Mamet, Sam Shepard, John Simon, Stephen Sondheim, and Wendy Wasserstein.
Issue #147 is no exception. It will include interviews with writer Russell Banks and poet Denise Levertov. In his Art of Fiction interview, Banks recounts a party for Jack Kerouac that he hosted when a college student and discusses the recent film version of his novel The Sweet Hereafter. In Levertov's last interview, given shortly before her death last year, she discusses the art of poetry. In addition, issue #147 will feature fiction by Michael Knight and Norman Locke, as well as contributions by many other exciting poets and writers.
