Char Booth has presented practical, useful, and insightful information about teaching in her book. Readers benefit from her instructional experiences, observations, and excellent organizational skills which are evident in the presentation of this information. She clearly highlights main points and concepts so it is easy for readers to identify specific information. She includes goals, summaries, reflection points and notes for each chapter, which help to clarify the material and encourage professional development. Among the valuable contents are concise explanations of learning and instructional theories, creating communities of practice, and integrating the USER (Understand, Structure, Engage, and Reflect) approach with library instructional design. This is a superb book for librarians whose jobs include teaching responsibilities and who wish to improve their instructional literacy.
