The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes (Sandpiper Books)by Dubose Heyward
Synopses & Reviews
The Country Bunny is a lady, and she attains the exalted position of Easter Bunny in spite of her responsibilities as a mother of twenty-one children. That the story ends with success and a reward is, of course, as every child would wish.
Like so many other classic stories for children, this one grew from being told and retold to a child for many years. That is why Mr. Heyward gives credit on the title-page to his eight-year-old daughter, Jennifer.
"It was Easter of 1939 when this happy, inspiring story won its first group of devoted readers. Many have read it every year since, always finding new pleasure in the story." Chicago Sun Times
"A charming tale of a little country bunny who wanted to become one of the Five Easter Bunnies and how she managed to realize her ambition in spite of her twenty-one children!" Miami News
The 75th anniversary edition with bonus downloadable audio to celebrate DuBose Heyward's enduring classic, in which a busy mother rabbit attains the exalted position of Easter Bunny, while raising twenty-one children.
When eggs need to be delivered to all the worlds children the night before Easter, only the fastest bunnies are fit for the job. Country Bunny, being a mama to 21 little ones, thinks that perhaps her dream of being the Easter Bunny is a hopeless one. But brave little Country Bunny cannot be put aside so easily, and through her determination she shows everyone, including herself, that her lifelong hopes for having a family and having the most important job of all can both come true. Enchanted with Country Bunnys spirit and grace, Grandfather Bunny sends her out the night before Easter to make sure every child gets his or her Easter eggs. In her little gold shoes, she runs all over the world, until at last she comes home to fill the Easter baskets of each of her own little bunnies. Whimsical and sweet with resplendent illustrations in Easter egg pastels, Country Bunnys story is as magical today as it was in 1939.
Celebrate the possibilities in a 75th anniversary edition of DuBose Heywards timeless tale, complete with bonus downloadable audio.
