The Imprint of Alan Swallow: Quality Publishing in the West

This biography follows the career of Swallow (1915-1966) from his early days as a poet, to his pioneering work as a publisher in Colorado. Nelson, a reporter with the Associated Press for forty years and the author of numerous books, argues that Swallow was important because he was one of the first publishers to operate "out West." Nelson recalls Swallows relationships with his authors and the hardships and rewards of running a publishing house away from publishing's traditional center of the east coast.
