Zombies Hate Stuff Cover

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Reginald isnandrsquo;t like the other zombies who shuffle through Quirkville, scaring the townspeople and moaning for BRAINSSSSS! The only thing Reginaldandrsquo;s stomach rumbles for is sticky peanut butter and sweet jelly. He tries to tell his zombie pals that thereandrsquo;s more to life than eating brains, but theyandrsquo;re just not interested. Will Reginald find a way to bring peace to Quirkville and convince the other zombies that thereandrsquo;s nothing better than PBandJ?

Debut author Joe McGee and up-and-coming illustrator Charles Santoso have created a delicious tale about being true to yourself that will make readers hungry for more.

Review:

"If you've ever had the experience of connecting with a graphic novel that takes two and a half minutes to read, you'll appreciate Zombies Hate Stuff. In it, Stones tells a simple tale of what zombies hate, what they don't mind, what they really hate, and finally, what they love. With typically no more than a word or two on each page describing the object of a zombie's hatred, indifference, loathing, or affection, Stones's panels have a cool way of collectively turning a grin into a chuckle (and perhaps, dare it be said, into a hearty guffaw). Stones is able to tap into what readers love or hate about the things he presents, and in a strange way manages to get readers to see them through the zombie's rather glazed eyes. When it comes to creating humor, Stones uses all the tricks of the trade, including awkward juxtapositions, sight gags, incongruity, visual references, and even — if you can believe it — dramatic irony (well, at least in the case of the clown). It's perfect as a conversation piece or for a laugh around the water cooler, unless you know people at work who love bagpipes or are into sock monkeys." Publishers Weekly Copyright PWxyz, LLC. Synopsis:

Zombies hate clowns. They also hate hippies, not to mention zip lines, penguins, moon penguins, nudists, weddings, sharing, and kittens. They really hate unicorns, strangely don't mind Canadians, and love YOU. Each of Greg Stones's ghoulishly colorful paintings reveal funny and unexpected scenes of zombie disgruntlement, cataloging the stuff that really riles up the walking dead (astronauts, rain, bagpipes, re-gifting, and more) with wit, humor, and, of course, brains. Zombies Hate Stuff offers an unexpected and irresistible perspective on the zombie apocalypse and the pop culture phenomenon that will not die.
