The stunning epic that stirred the imagination of millions. Here is a novel of awesome beauty and power. A moving saga about people, relationships and the boundaries of love. Through Jean Auel's magnificent storytelling, we are taken back to the dawn of mankind and swept up in the wonderful world of a very special heroine, Ayla. Her enthralling story is one we all can share. A natural disaster has left young Ayla alone, wandering, fending for herself in an unfamiliar land. One day, she is discovered by the Clan of the Cave bear, men and women far different from her own people. Tall, blond, blue-eyed Ayla is a mysterious stranger to the Clan and at first they mistrust her and cast her out. But as she grows to know them and to learn the ways of the Clan, she is welcomed. And as she leads them in their struggle for survival, the Clan come to worship Ayla. For in her blood flows the future of humanity.

A stunning epic that has stirred the imagination of millions of readers, "The Clan of the cave Bear" tells the story of the orphaned Ayla and her struggle to fit in and survive after her own tribe is killed by an earthquake.

Vast epic novel of the beginning of humanity. Could all of that progress really be compressed into the life of one mere woman -- Ayla? Although it stretches credibility, it's a well-told tale, and the beginning of a strong series.

I love the detail Auel gives in her book. The research that must have been done for herbs, and how primitive people lived is amazing. The story came to life through her story. I'm hooked and will be reading the other books in her series.I would highly recommend this book.

This story, is by far, the best one I have ever read. I tried to read it as a young teenager, but coulnd't really get into it. When I became about seventeen, and more mature, I couldn't put the book down. I have also read the Valley of the Horses, the second sequel to this first book, but none are as good as this one. I have yet to read the third and fourth book of this series, but I am looking forward to it, and wish I had a copy of this book, because I could read it over and over again!
