Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient. It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don't.

Lauren Oliver astonished readers with her stunning debut, Before I Fall. In a starred review, Publishers Weekly called it "raw, emotional, and, at times, beautiful. An end as brave as it is heartbreaking." Her much-awaited second novel fulfills her promise as an exceptionally talented and versatile writer.

Synopsis:

They say that the cure for Love will make me happy and safe forever. And Ive always believed them. Until now. Now everything has changed. Now, Id rather be infected with love for the tiniest sliver of a second than live a hundred years smothered by a lie.

About the Author

This was followed by her stunning Delirium, which ALA Booklist called "another deft blend of realism and fantasy." A graduate of the University of Chicago and the MFA program at New York University, Lauren lives in Brooklyn, New York. Liesl & Po is her first novel for younger readers.

This book opened up the imagination of LOVE being a disease which blew my mind.
It's interesting, imaginative, fun, and has a lead who you can root for.
I really love this book and can't wait to finish the series!

Words cannot even express how amazingly brilliant this book is. I need it on my bookshelf, for good. I got it from the library, thinking that it must be interesting if its name is Delirium. I refused to allow myself to think twice, and I'm glad I didn't, because I stayed up late into the night until I finished the book. Oliver's writing style is so breathtaking and I can't get enough of it, and can't wait until Requiem comes out in March!

Delirium will leave you in awe. After the United States has crumbled, humans repopulated, and the a society created new laws, one being, no love. Love, also know as Delirium is a disease to them. "It kills you when you have it, and when you don't." -Oliver. When you turn 18, you receive a procedure, it turns of the emotion side of your brain. You will never really love anyone again, you will never care for anyone again, and you will live life plainly with someone who has been matched to you.
Lena is scared. Her procedure is about 3 months away as the book starts, but it grows closer, and closer. She is counting the days. Lena starts do dangerous things, things that could get her killed. And that is when she meets him and she, well, becomes delirious.....
