In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
Many races believe that it was created by some sort of god, though the Jatravartid people of Viltvodle VI believe that the entire Universe was in fact sneezed out of the nose of a being called the Great Green Arkleseizure.

Much like the first book in the series, the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the Restaurant at the End of the Universe is beautifully and perfectly hilarious. I read the majority of it in a single afternoon- I couldn't put it down! This book and series absolutely delights me and I can't stop reading them.

Not to be read during the weekend of a loved ones funeral....because not everyone deals well with laughter at such times, but really this book kept me smiling and laughing outloud throughout its pretty short amount of pages.
Douglas Adams has to be the funniest brit i have never meet. Two big thumbs up, way up into the galaxy skies!!!

by The Washington Post Book World,
"Douglas Adams is a terrific satirist."
by Detroit Free Press,
"What's such fun is how amusing the galaxy looks through Adams' sardonically silly eyes."
by SF Reviews.net,
"[I]n fairness to Adams' singular brand of comic genius it must be said that it all does make a kind of sense in its own loopy and inexplicable way. Just don't ask me to make sense of it for you; I'd rather sit back and enjoy it!"
This sequel to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy finds Arthur Dent, reluctant space adventurer, joining Ford Prefect, expert contributor to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; Zaphod Beeblebrox, two-headed former president of the galaxy; Zaphod's dead great-grandfather; sexy cadet Trillian; and paranoid Marvin in the search for the ruler of the Universe.
