Publisher Comments:

Fire Investigator: Principles and Practice updates the resource previously known as Usera (TM)s Manual for NFPA 921, 2004 Edition. Through a clear, concise presentation, Fire Investigator assists fire investigators in conducting complex fire investigations. Written by talented professional fire investigators from the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), this text covers the entire span of the 2008 Edition of NFPA 921, Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations and addresses all of the job performance requirements in the 2009 Edition of NFPA 1033, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator. This text is the benchmark for conducting safe and systematic investigations. Key features include: new chapter on Marine Fire Investigations; coverage of the 2009 Edition of NFPA 1033; supported by a complete teaching and learning system.

Book News Annotation:

The third edition of the textbook correlates to the 2011 edition of NFPA 921 and addresses the job performance requirements defined in the 2009 edition of NFPA 1033. After reviewing fire science, the 26 chapters explain the principles of planning a fire investigation and describe the different types of explosions, incendiary fires, appliance hazards, motor vehicle fires, wildfire investigations, and marine fires. Color photographs illustrate fire patterns, building construction, safety equipment, evidence documentation, electrical damage, and fuel systems.
