Synopsis:

Minnesota's lakes may be its most famous features, but the glaciated countryside disguises a much longer history of volcanoes and plate collisions--not surprising when you learn that Minnesota was at the active edge of the fledgling North American continent for several billion years.

My favorite of the Roadside Geology series from Mountain Press. Ojakangas obviously loves what's underfoot in his home state, and the book is sprinkled with historical background, too. Easy-to-understand charts, graphs and photos make exploring this state's geology a joy. I wouldn't do a road trip through Minnesota without it.
