Synopsis:

Neither prose nor poetry but a unique, mesmerizing fusion of both, the Holy Quran stands as one of the worlds most important spiritual texts and is a source of law, instruction, code of conduct and comfort for all of mankind including the one and half billion muslims around the globe. It is arguably the world's religious scripture that today commands the attention of those unfamiliar with its teachings.

There are numerous English translations of the Quran available, yet this edition is one of few, that can claim a phrase-by-phrase translation, concurrent with the original Arabic text. By following the Arabic text while being guided by the English, this phrase-by-phrase translation allows for the english reader to gain invaluable benefit. Additionally, it permits those with a rudimentary grasp of Arabic to draw nearer to the Qurans inimitable style and lofty message. Expertly translated and prepared, this edition of the Quran also makes extensive use of classical commentaries from both Sunni and Shi‘i sources for broader-based understanding.

About the Author

Ali Quli Qarai studied at Osmania University and the University of Wisconsin. As a seasoned scholar familiar both with the intricacies of the Islamic texts and the English language, Mr Qarai has dedicated his life to the translation of the classics of Islamic literature into English.
