Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

This gorgeous new journal from popular paper-cut artist Nikki McClure is the perfect place to record all the projects to build, plans to make, recipes to cook, things to wish for, books to read, places to travel, presents to give, and experiences to discover, to name just a few. Based loosely on her Things to Make and Do 2008 Calendar, the journal's simple text and starkly beautiful images offer readers inspiration to write down their aspirations and dream projects, and to take the steps necessary to achieve them.

Synopsis:

This gorgeous new journal from popular Northwest artist Nikki McClure is the perfect place to record all the projects to build, plans to make, recipes to cook, things to wish for, books to read, places to travel, presents to give, and experiences to discover, to name just a few. Based loosely on her Things to Make and Do 2008 Calendar, the journal seeks to inspire its owner to write down aspirations and dream projects, and the steps necessary to achieve them. Things to Make and Do is divided into 10 sections: things to make (Plans, Wishes, and Dreams) and things to do (Build, Explore, Learn, Make, Grow, Give, and Find). Is there a new recipe you want to try out? Or are you preparing a gift list for the holidays? Putting together a new mix CD and want to figure out what songs to put on it? Creating a list of DVDs to rent or books to read? Or maybe you're looking for a place to write down new job aspirations or places you dream of traveling to? With its open and simple structure, the possibilities of what to record are endless.

Description:

Nikki's follow-up to her wonderful First Thousand Days, journal is another inspiring, verb-laden adventure that features her amazing paper-cuts.
160 pages are divided into sections:

  • Plans
  • Wishes
  • Dreams
  • Build
  • Explore
  • Learn
  • Make
  • Grow
  • Give
    ...and Find.

The pages are a mix of blank, simple and colored pages that always feature the section on the side, and every few pages are punctuated by Nikki's inspirational work.
