Publisher Comments:

A stylishly smart collection of practical advice for the busy modern woman.

With information on entertaining, etiquette, housekeeping, basic home repair, decorating, sex, and beauty, this indispensable book has everything today's young woman should know — but may not! The Modern Girl's Guide to Life is a collection of all the helpful tips and secrets that get passed on from generation to generation, but many of us have somehow missed. It's full of practical, definitive advice on the basics — the day-to-day necessities like finding a bra that fits, balancing a checkbook, making a decent cup of coffee, and hemming a pair of pants. Modern Girl guru Jane Buckingham includes loads of savvy counsel to help us feel more refined, in charge, and together as we navigate the rocky terrain that is twenty-first-century womanhood.

I am SO HAPPY I found this book! Many times have I found myself questioning something, and referring to the book for any answers. The author has saved me time in researching for particular info that I wanted to learn about so as to be knowledgeable enough to fit into conversation by including such random things in her book (such as about scotch; general definitions in basketball, golf, baseball, football; basic must-haves in the closet; tips for dressing for events; health; today's ettiquette; changing a tire...). This book has been SO helpful for me, I am SO GLAD I found this book! (She has a FABULOUS book for the Modern Girl about Motherhood too!) I would rate this book with 5 stars if she included other tips and info on do's & dont's of specifics in dressing (like are tan nylons okay or not?!), and other personal care info as taking care of feet, hands (how to get & maintain smooth feet). Overall, I highly recommend this book - other than those specifics, this author has put in more information than you can imagine. I love it... it's been a bible for me.
