Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Making its paperback debut is a bestselling, chilling tale of a woman who begins an ambitious and desperate undertaking which may transform her life . . . .or end it.

About the Author

With her debut, A Grave Talent, LAURIE R. KING became the first novelist since Patricia Cornwell to win prizes for Best First Crime Novel on both sides of the Atlantic. She is the bestselling author of four contemporary novels featuring Kate Martinelli, five acclaimed Mary Russell mysteries, and the highly praised A Darker Place. She lives in northern California, where she is at work on the sixth Mary Russell novel.

I have been a fan of Laurie King since I first stumbled upon The Beekeeper's Apprentice (the first of her Sherlock Holmes mysteries). I have read just about everything she's written and feel that this is the best of her non-Holmes writings. It is psychologically very sophisticated with great character development. The Holmes stories are great page-turners and fun if you like Holmes, but the depth of plot and character development are nowhere near what this novel has to offer, in my opinion.

Laurie B. King writes in depth and wonderfully. Folly is about a woman grappling with depression and possible insanity who tries to build a home by herself on an inherited island called Folly. What ensures is great reading!
