Synopses & Reviews
This text is appropriate for all "Issues in early childhood education" courses as well as "child abuse and prevention courses" in an ECE (Early Childhood Education) program. Some states such as Texas, Illinois, and North Carolina require this course to be taken by all ECE majors, while other states cover this material in their Home, School, and Community courses. Over 120,000 students enroll in early childhood education annually at 1,571 schools of education (884 four-year schools and 687 two-year schools). Due to the increasing demands for quality child care providers, enrollments for Early Childhood Education continue to increase. Home, School, and Community text sells in excess of 16,000 units (0+1) into the HSC course. This text is intended as a supplement to the HSC course.
PROTECTING OUR CHILDREN provides guidance to teachers, child care and education administrators, health care providers, social service workers, and all who work with young children on how to recognize and understand child abuse and neglect. The text enables readers not only to identify abuse and neglect, but also to develop an understanding of the many facets of child maltreatment, find practical ideas to help children and their families, and ultimately reduce the incidence of child abuse and neglect.
