Synopses & Reviews
A pretty little girl named Tsubasa, an old friend of Soichiro's from junior high, comes back to school. When she sees her beloved Soichiro with Yukino, Tsubasa gets extremely jealous and goes on the warpath to try to get Soichiro for herself. Meanwhile Maho, another girl who's jealous of Yukino, gets all the girls in class to hate Miyazawa and give her the silent treatment. Yukino decides she has to face these problems on her own, without relying on Soichiro...
You know that couple that was obviously meant for each other, and everybody knew it, except them? That's Yukino and Soichiro, the two top students in school, who are capable of anything other than a normal relationship.
Yukino lives for praise and popularity, unwilling to share the spotlight with anyone. But trouble comes in the from of a new boy at school who can do no wrong. She sees him as her archrival; he sees her as a fake, especially when he discovers her true persona. She'll do anything to destroy him...until he tells her he loves her. Turned into a hit anime by the creators of Evangelion, Kare Kano is one of the most anticipated manga titles ever for U.S. fans.
Yukino Miyazawa is the perfect model student. Pretty, kind, good at sports, always at the top of her class. But she's not all she seems.
About the Author
Famed manga-ka (manga artist) Masami Tsuda's Kare Kano has become one of the best-known — and most eagerly-awaited — manga series of the last decade. Kare Kano's unique blend of quirky romance and offbeat, novel plot devices are utterly disarming and have engendered a fan base whose numbers are legion.
Kare Kano — originally published in Japan as Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou — is a modern manga masterpiece. The story began appearing in Feburary of 1996 in Hakusensha's monthly LaLa magazine and was collected thereafter in tankoubon (graphic novel) form in the Hana to Yume Comics line. As of this writing (August 2002), there are 13 volumes in print in Japan, and Kare Kano continues to be one of the top-selling manga series in that country.
Hideaki Anno and GAINAX (the creators of Neon Genesis Evangelion) produced an animated version of Kare Kano which comprised 26 TV episodes and is now being released in the U.S. as His and Her Circumstances.
