Wow, what an exciting year it's been! Hasn't it just flown by? We can barely believe it's been 11 months since we sent Tinkers in Volume 8. And we couldn't be more proud of Stitches, our pick for Volume 13, which was a finalist for the National Book Award. They grow up so fast. Not to sound like we're playing favorites. We, of course, love all eight volumes we sent in 2009 equally.
Volume 15 is the icing on the snowman cookie. We are excited to bring you this signed copy of The Wild Things by Dave Eggers in an exclusive, special-edition slipcase. Maybe you saw Steve Almond raving about The Wild Things in the Boston Globe:
[Eggers's] highest achievement is in having found a fresh way to tell us a story we already know so well, about the monstrous forces of love and hate that mark every childhood — and pursue us howling into adulthood.
Working with McSweeney's to bring you this special package was just about as fun as that Alaskan cruise we went on back in February with Shirley and Duane. (Photos coming soon!)
We are pleased to announce a new arrival to our Powell’s Souvenir family! The new mug arrived this fall (½ lb., 12 oz., 4 in. tall), and both the mug and our designers are doing great. We can only hope this little receptacle of joy makes you as happy as it has us.
Will blessings never cease?! Our neighbors at both Stash Tea and Dagoba Chocolate have been bit by the holiday bug and are spreading it around. Please enjoy the organic tea sampler and gourmet chocolate nibblies.
We get so sentimental this time of year, and we find ourselves incredibly grateful for our Indiespensable friends and family. We hope the enclosed $5 Powell's gift card jingles your bells. (Beats fruit cake!)
Well, enough about us. How are you? We look forward to receiving your annual holiday newsletter!
From our family to yours, Happy Holidays!

A collective of high muckamucks, the Panjandrums largely spend their time in competitive Bananagram duels and negotiations regarding Pie Friday — not to mention painstakingly designing each installment of Powell's subscription club, Indiespensable, with the help of independent publishers and local merchants. From time to time, they find it entertaining to give you a look at the hows and whys behind the what. But, if you're yearning for more, send questions, suggestions, and random anecdotes to email@example.com. (They especially like stories about pets, babies, and pie fillings.)
