About the Author
TIM HAWCROFT is an established author on horse care and a highly experienced equine veterinary surgeon. He has been involved with horses from early childhood, staying with relatives on country properties and learning how to ride and handle horses as well as mustering and riding in gymkhanas. He graduated from the University of Sydney as a veterinary surgeon in 1968. Since then, he has been in private practice in the Sydney metropolitan area, specializing in the problems of race-horses, stud horses, polo ponies, show horses, endurance horses and children's ponies. A member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, he has presented papers to such bodies as the Australian Equine Research Foundation and the Australian Equine Veterinary Association. He has officiated as a veterinary surgeon for the Royal Agricultural Society at the Sydney Royal Easter Show and has worked with Sydney race clubs, checking racehorses' fitness at the barrier.
