Synopses & Reviews
Synopsis
Over the years, some states have passed varying degrees of "open records" compromise legislation to enable adult adoptees access to their own original birth certificates and to meet their biological families who wish to connect. For over 40 years, the hard work by now-elderly adoption activists, many of whom have already passed away, has laid the groundwork. The extent of the politics, people, and their commentary on sealed records and other adoption issues cannot be contained in a single volume, but this collection of chronological letters, published feature stories and op-eds, serves to supplement "CHOSEN CHILDREN - People, Politics and America's Failed Foster Care and Adoption Industries," and "THE ADOPTION and DONOR CONCEPTION FACTBOOK" for America's next generation of adoption reform activists and abolitionists. It is they who will truly open records nationwide and replace adoption as we have known it with better expressions of individualized child custody and accountability... because America CAN do better for it's (adopted and non-adopted) children and families.
