Synopsis
In Book 1, Titan performs a stellar rescue. A news report details the rescue, then goes on to explain the appearance of Titan and the rest of the Hand of the Morningstar, and the presence of the elusive Morningstar, who by all visual accounts is a wise and powerful heavenly creature, and the coinciding appearance of a series of "super-Villains," those who have tried to exert power or control through fantastic means--super powers (avoiding the use of the term "supernatural") or scientific creation.
The newscast then notes "In recent developments...," detailing how a new super-villain, The Tempest, has been fighting for environmental rights and preservation in South America, and we see some of his exploits. In this second event, we are introduced to The Tempest. He is fighting Kami of the Hand of the Morningstar, as he is holding captive the workers of an oil rig of the coast of South America, upset that they are badly affecting the oceans with their offshore drilling. The Tempest is an angry man, with unruly long hair, and with uncontrolled powers, rather wildly used. They struggle as Kami tries to rescue the workers, and Titan shows up to join the fray. We note that Titan does a little "angling" for the camera, doing some flashy stuff, then goes in after the Tempest. They scuffle and square off, then with the Tempest's attention diverted to Kami releasing his prisoners, Titan delivers a devastating blow to his head, sending him sprawling through the sky into the ocean. He is presumed not just defeated, but dead; Titan is proud of himself, and aggrandizes himself to the reporters watching the event.
