Excerpt from Alien Landholding: Report to the 1983 General Assembly of North Carolina
The 1979 General Assembly authorized the Legislative Research Commission to study the ownership of land in North Carolina by aliens or foreign corporations. Resolution 61 (senate Joint Resolution 897) authorized the Commission to include in its study a review of the amount of land presently owned in North Carolina by aliens or foreign corporations, the short and long - term effects of such ownership on citizens of North Carolina, and any other pertinent matter the Legis lative Research Commission deems relevant to this area.
