Synopsis
The New Deal and Folk Culture Series. N. Howard (Jack) Thorp's late 1930s WPA N.M. Writers' Project accounts, legends, and songs about New Mexican cattle culture, outlaws, places, characters. Illustrated with Farm Security Administration photos of rodeos and ranch life, notes also included. The Whites live in Albuquerque, where Peter, a well known violin maker, teaches at the University of New Mexico. He is co-author (with Marta Weigle) of The Lore of New Mexico.
