I stumbled on Already Dead in a local used book store (sorry Powells - I promise, I'll buy the rest of them here!) and decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did! It's not literature, it's just a nice, quick, entertaining read. I love that Charlie Huston puts the vampires back in the dark (no mainstreaming here) and I found the explanation for how they and the "shamblers" (zombies) came to be very satisfying. It's quick, it's gritty, it's just plain fun!

An exciting, fast paced, and violent take on vampire lore. In modern day New York, tribes of vampires have laid claim to areas of Manhattan that they rule in secret. Though not Huston's best book still very entertaining for those that like the genre.
